Tried out the L4D2 demo today...
The gameplay is pretty much exactly like L4D, which means I'll probably not get much mileage out of it. It's fun, but there's definitely an emphasis on multiplayer - and I'm not much for multiplayer.
The melee weapons are a lot of fun. It's quite satisfying to wade into melee and watch the body parts fly. And the faster melee weapons - like the machete - actually work pretty well. I played through an entire section with nothing but a machete.
The new types of infected are interesting... The armored infected make for some interesting gameplay decisions. They're bulletproof from the front, so you have to either melee them or get behind them.
I wasn't much impressed with the spitter or the charger. They didn't really seem to add much variety to the game.
The jockey is interesting... It's always worrisome to have control of your character taken away from you. Even more worrisome when you start heading towards a pile of infected. And the fact that it's on top of a friendly character means you have to be somewhat careful in how you kill it.
Letting the witch wander around during the day was interesting. Made her a little bit more difficult to avoid. Slightly more threatening.
The daylight setting was also interesting. Visibility was much better, making the flashlight less necessary. Though the contrast when you went indoors was very marked. Made indoors seem very unsafe.
