Neverwinter Nights (PC)

"Great game... Nice visuals, true to the D&D game mechanics, rich environments, interesting storyline. And it made a great platform for developing your own content."

Chrono Trigger (SNES)

"Pretty much my favorite console RPG. Superior in just about every way. Truly epic storyline, interesting characters, innovative combat system, beautiful graphics..."

EVE: Online (PC-MAC)

"The ultimate MMO sandbox. Explore the universe, build an empire, plunder the tradelanes, kill your rivals... Whatever strikes your fancy."

Guild: EVE University

Characters:

Olvel, Caldari Industrialist — My first, and so far only, character in EVE. I've spent a lot of time mining, and some time running missions.

System Shock 2 (PC)

"Terrific game. I don't think I've run up against a foe more frightening than The Many in all my years of gaming."

Marathon Trilogy ()

"I was playing these games back when everyone else thought Quake was ground-breaking... Sure, the graphics were more Doom than Quake, but the storyline was simply amazing. Didn't see anything rivaling Marathon on the PC until Half-Life came out."

Deus Ex (PC)

"A terrific game. Dystopic sci-fi paranoia at its best. I don't even want to think about how many hours I spent playing though this game over and over again... I still play it from time to time."

Master of Orion II: Battle at Antares (PC)

"Quite possibly the best 4X title ever made. Explore the universe... Expand your empire... Exploit your allies... Exterminate your foes... Just the right balance of micro- and macro-management. Race customization. Good stuff."

Overlord II (PC)

"Everything that made the original so much fun, just ramped-up a bit. Better graphics, more detailed minions, a bigger stronghold..."

City of Heroes (PC)

"Great game. Lots of fun to create your own hero. Too bad there are so many clones of Wolverine and the Hulk and whatnot running around..."

Escape Velocity: Nova (PC)

"The PC version of a MAC classic. Kind of like Privateer, or Freelancer, but in a 2D perspective. Lots of fun."

Half-Life 2 (PC)

"A great sequel to a good game. Superior in every way. Too bad Valve takes so long to develop them..."

WarCraft III: Reign of Chaos (PC-MAC)

"WarCraft in 3D. It had a great storyline, very rich characters, but the gameplay wasn't quite there. And I missed my boats."

World of Warcraft (PC-MAC)

"Blizzard's entry into the MMOG market, and undisputed king of the hill. Good game, but it gets repetitive. I guess that's what makes in a MMOG."

Server: Elune

Characters:

Doomvel, Level 80 Dwarf Death Knight — Dwarven Death Knight and all-around asskicker. I meant to use him for tanking, so that groups would be easier to come by... Then I got bored.

Olveldt, Level 40 Night Elf Druid — My current lowbie alt.

Olvyl, Level 80 Human Warlock — First character I rolled up and generally the main character I play.

Wreave, Level 70 Human Rogue — My second 70. Have not played him nearly enough, and his gear reflects that.

Homeworld: Cataclysm (PC)

"Streamlined the controls a bit, lowered the difficulty slightly, and added a truly sinister villain. A very solid addition to a great series."

Homeworld 2 (PC)

"Easily the best of the series. Beautiful graphics, intuitive controls, and an epic storyline."

Portal (PC)

"Hilarious game. Truly innovative gameplay. Great characters. Terrific environments. Where's my cake?!"

Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War (PC)

"Terrific game. Really raises the bar for RTS titles. Beautiful graphics, complex unit interplay. Good Stuff."

Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II (PC)

"Plays almost nothing like the other Dawn of War games - much more tactical, much less strategic. Very fun game though."

Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War -- Dark Crusade (PC)

"Probably my favorite in the series. I love the nonlinear campaign map, and the necrons are a lot of fun to play."

Command & Conquer: Red Alert 2 (PC)

"Killer tesla coils, giant squid, zeppelins, time travel, and cheesy acting ... how can you go wrong? This is probably my favorite of the Command & Conquer games."

Fallout 2 (PC)

"Easily the best game in the series. Still a huge and open-ended world like in Fallout 1, but they tamed the quest log a bit... Made it easier to find your way around."

Master of Orion (PC)

"The game that started it all. This is the one that really got me hooked on PC gaming back in the day... Although, to be honest, I was playing it on a MAC. I still fire it up under emulation once in a while... Still a great game."

StarCraft (PC)

"Terrific old-school RTS. Good storyline, lots of colorful units."

Homeworld (PC)

"This was a truly revolutionary game at the time... Full-blown fleet combat, in 3D space. It was a little rough though... Fairly complex and unintuitive controls. Steep learning curve. Brutal difficulty. I never did finish it."

Half-Life (PC)

"Quite possibly the first PC FPS that really had an involved storyline. Revolutionary at the time. Still fun to play through even today."

Warcraft II (PC-MAC)

"The classic RTS. I haven't played it in years, but I've still got fond memories."

Diablo II (PC)

"Pure, distilled, gaming-crack. Addictive gameplay like no other."

Diablo (PC)

"It was a decent title in its time, but these days the shadow of Diablo II has pretty much erased the original."

Nox (PC)

"One of the best Diablo-alikes out there."

Dark Age of Camelot (PC)

"At the time, it was a huge improvement over EverQuest. These days, not so much."

Server: Gaheris

Guild: Legion

Characters:

Olvel, Level 50 Dwarf Warrior — My second, but ultimately main character in DAoC. Had lots of fun raiding with him.

Rhael, Level 50 Inconnu Necromancer — This was the first character I got to 50. I had a lot of fun with him along the way... But once I got to 50 I got sick of not seeing any of the gear I was getting.

Bioshock (PC)

"I was a little disappointed with this game. Not nearly as deep or complicated as I was hoping. Very little RPG-esque character development."

Left 4 Dead (PC)

"Zombie carnage! I just wish the single player was better developed... I'm really not that big a fan of multiplayer games in general."

Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War -- Winter Assault (PC)

"Easily the most challenging game in the series. Lots of difficult scenarios that took more than military might to complete. Great storyline."

StarCraft Expansion Set: Brood War (PC)

"A nice addition to a great game. Good to see the Kerrigan character developed some more. Good backstory for the Protoss and Zerg. Good stuff all-around."

Overlord (PC)

"Reminds me a bit of the Dungeon Keeper games, but more hands-on and combat oriented. You lead your minions onto the battlefield, instead of just building up your dungeon. There's still some fun customization of your fortress though."

Dungeon Keeper 2 (PC)

"Build a dungeon, torture your minions, kill the heroes. Good stuff. The graphics are a bit dated, but the gameplay is still terrific. I wish they'd make a sequel..."

Fallout (PC)

"The game that started it all... Great setting, wonderful storyline, horrible execution. I suppose it wasn't too bad for the time, but I remember feeling completely lost in this vast setting. Nearly impossible to play through to the end."

Fallout 3 (PC)

"Honestly, I'm a bit disappointed with this game. Yeah, it's fun... But it just doesn't live up to the Fallout legacy. Certainly the weakest title in the series."

Hellgate: London (PC)

"A really fun game with lots of promise that was, unfortunately, not good enough to survive. Reminded me of a mix between Diablo II and Deus Ex. Very cool dark sci-fi setting... Lots of combat... Some decent character building..."

Dungeon Siege I (PC)

"An ultimately forgettable title. Not bad or good enough to really be memorable. Just some simple dungeon hack 'n' slash."

Team Fortress 2 (PC)

"It's a decent game, but I'm just not a big fan of multiplayer-only titles."

Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War -- Soulstorm (PC)

"One of the weaker titles in the series. They took out some of the neat things that made Dark Crusade fun, and added in a couple poorly-developed factions to play."

Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3 (PC)

"There's some decent gameplay... And I like the addition of the Japanese as a playable race... But it just doesn't have the same spark that the old C&C games did."

Everquest (PC)

"This is the game that got me started on MMOGs... Well, if you don't count MUDs that is. I never made it too far though... I don't think I even made it to level 20 before I left for Dark Age of Camelot."

Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars (PC)

"I liked the first few C&C games, but this one just fell flat. I don't know what the problem was... All the same elements were still there... But they just weren't sticking together right. Very disappointing."

Master of Orion 3 (PC)

"Horrible, awful, terrible game. Plays almost nothing like the other MoO games. Takes far too much control away from the player. Needlessly confusing. I wanted so badly to like this game... But it just sucks."

System Shock (PC)

"Honestly, I haven't actually played this game yet. After playing through System Shock 2 I tracked down a copy and bought it... But I haven't played it yet. I doubt if it'd even run on Vista..."
